Apache Subversion is a software versioning and revision control system. Revision control, also known as version control or source control is a process in the managerial aspect of software designing. It records the changes in documents, programs, files etc related to the software. Software versioning is just the assigning of version numbers to software under development. The 'build' version we see in softwares is usually assigned by the versioning system automatically.
